Tailgate Party Recap

We had so much fun at our first annual Parent and Student Tailgate. Thank you to everyone that showed up and especially for those that brought sides.  We had some great food from Publix, met some 8th graders from our feeder schools, played games, warmed up, and watched our students kick-off the first home game with the National Anthem.   You can find out more and see some great pics from the event by going to the blog post on our website.

Homecoming Parade

Picture
Last year, Pope High School brought back the traditional Homecoming Parade.  Our chorus students decorated a truck and had a great time singing and traveling down Hembree Rd together. We're looking forward to celebrating again. Students will join us Sept. 18 at 4pm to decorate the truck and get in place.  The parade starts at 5:30pm.  The community is invited to join and there will be food trucks at the end of the parade at Pope High School.

Fall Concert

Our first concert of the year is coming up on October 8 at 7pm.  Zelda will send all the details closer to the time but here's some basic info.

  • Uniforms have been ordered and are on their way.  Make sure you have sent in your payment or sent it with Zelle because your student won't receive their uniform until it has been paid for.
  • There will be an extra rehearsal for the concert on Monday, the 6th, right after school.  Zelda is hoping to have a treat for the students that day as well.  Stay tuned.

A Few Extra Notes

  • We would like every chorus student to bring in one bag of non chocolate, no nuts, individually wrapped candy to be thrown from the truck in the parade.
  • Uniforms- once you receive them (in a couple weeks) please do not cut pants if they are too long.  Just hem them so you can let them out when your students grows, or if you later need to trade them out for another size.  Thanks!
  • We are looking for parents that would be interested in joining a Photo Team. Email [email protected] if interested. Also, if you take any pics during our events, we would love to use them on our website.  You can email them to the above address as well.

If someone in your students family is not getting the newsletter, please let us know at [email protected].

Tailgate!!

Read Now

Picture
This past Friday was our first football home game and that meant two things:
  • Our Chorus students, along with eight graders from Dodgen and Hightower sang the National Anthem
  • The Pope Chorus Tailgate!

These are not only great opportunities for our Pope Chorus students but they serve as an excellent way to show our eighth grade feeder schools how much fun Chorus is at Pope.  The students did an amazing job with the National Anthem and our wonderful Booster Board, thanks to your contributions, provided our students with some great barbecue, chicken nuggets and tasty sides.  The kids had a great time socializing before the game and playing a rousing game of rock, paper scissors. We even had several of our students further participate in game day with the band, color guard and the football team.

Though the final score wasn't in the Greyhounds favor, the kids had a great time performing and socializing.  It was a great kick-off to the home football season and to a great year in Pope Chorus!

Check out some of the pictures from the tailgate below!
